Pre-Screening Questions PDF Print E-mail
The pre-screening questions that you can formulate in the Galileo Applicant Tracking System are what enable you to distinguish non-qualified applicants from mediocre applicants and excellent applicants from mediocre applicants.  This is an essential tool in your online process for recruitment.  When pre-screening questions are properly composed, they can cut through the standard “canned” answers that your applicants think you want to see.  The idea is to not always have an obvious desired answer to your questions so your applicants provide you with truthful responses.

Questions take the form of a simple “yes/no” response, multiple choice, and non-scored essay-type questions.   Additionally, we allow you to ask questions that may have more than one possible answer that could be selected.  Here are examples of the types of questions that could be asked through Galileo.

1.)    Qualifier Questions:  These are pass/fail questions where no points are assigned.  Qualifier questions are always yes or no.  The desired answer can be either “yes” or “no”.

Example:  Have you ever been convicted of a felony?   Y/N

2.)    Scored Sreening Questions:  These are weighted questions with a pre-defined score depending on the answer selected.  These questions can be either Y/N, or Multiple Choice.  Multiple Choice questions must have two or more possible answers to select from.  There are different point assignments for each response.

Example:  Do you consider yourself a “big picture” type of person, a detail-oriented person, or a “follow the rules” type of person?

The applicant has no idea of the point assignment that has been pre-selected for each possible answer.

a.) “Big picture” person – 20 points
b.) “Detail-oriented” person – 30 points
c.)  “Follow the rules” person – 5 points
